Saturday May 12, 2007 @ 12:00 pm
EDMONTON, Alberta CANADA
WHO? - You! Bring family & friends.
WHAT? - This is an Awareness March.
WHEN? - We are asking supporters to gather at 12:00 pm, Saturday May 12, 2007.
WHERE? - The STOLEN SISTERS AWARENESS MARCH will begin at the Canadian Native Friendship Centre (11205 101 Street).
WHY? - The STOLEN SISTERS AWARENESS MARCH was created to raise awareness for the missing and murdered First Nations, Metis and Inuit women of Canada. In the last 20 years, approximatley 500 Aboriginal women have been murdered or have gone missing. Most of these cases remain UNSOLVED. Aboriginal women account for less than 3% of the entire Canadian poplulation.
We would like to encourage all communities to support and organize their own march. The lack of response by the Authorities and Governments is a shame. We MUST demand justice and the protection of those still at risk.
HOW? - The march is free. Dress casual. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
AFTER? - "Honoring Our Sisters Feast". Feast will start @ 3:30 pm
-"Healing With Laughter". A Special Guest Performance by Don Burnstick. Show will start @ 5:00 pm at the Canadian Native Friendship Centre (gymnasium).
