Seeing Native To Native

Finally reached a point in life wondering where the time went
Also at that point reevaluating how that lost time was spent
It's not in us to leave one or the other hanging when in need
Together chased our dreams and seen some dreams keep the lead
Supported our team even if at times we couldn't agree
If ever there was a reason to leave, it wasn't from me
You breathed life into these lungs wanting to wither away
So many times I searched it out, but never did see an escape
Instead embraced by unchanging smiles, hugs, and handshakes
Life has so many flavors, I'm grateful until the last taste
Showed me my face, my place, and more important, my weight
There's a lot more on our plate, and that means more at stake
To see that, we felt the breaks, the aches, and the hate
All that encased inside to provide motivation to stay awake
Left every trace to say we were here and respected each step
Slipped up time to time, but in everything only gave our best
