Fake Promises

Oh yikes, I reread this and thought, "Man, where are these thoughts coming from?" I just wrote it, and there are some reasons explained within the article but I think it was from things happening to me at the time when people were trying to come off as a friend, but ended up being more counterproductive. Just some insight into how this article came about, that's all.

Could this apply to one, or more, people?

Who reading this has said they'd be somewhere, or call sometime, and then not do it? Oh, I have my share of those things, but those are trivial things I'd think. Nothing to really worry about, depending on the circumstances. If it's very important to show or call, then maybe that should sink in, but if it's a friendly matter with not too much importance, then it should be okay to miss it. Maybe not so much nothing to just pay no attention to it, but if there are extenuating circumstances why you couldn't do whatever, you should be forgiven, or understood. I only say that because there is the possibility of actually forgetting about a prearranged arrangement. I mean, really forgetting to call someone, or meet up with someone. I know that some people are so busy that things like calling and going somewhere tend to be left out of the picture, but not really intentionally. I also know that there are some people who will outright lie about their promises. They say they'll be somewhere, and know ahead of time that they will not make it. They'll promise a call, and laugh that you believed them in that empty promise. These people are kinda weird to me? If they do that and not have a worry about doing so, wouldn't it be crazy to find out about what they will lie about and not think twice about it?

"But Jr., how'd this topic come about?" Well, it seems as if the internet is primed for liars to fool people. Well for example, I went to Nightshield's 'lyrical warfare' and saw someone post under "windreamer?" I knew it wasn't me, because, lately, I've been using Jr. Simpson as the topic's author there. Then, someone busts out that they know me, and then don't even leave their name, causing the column 'Nameless ones.' I've been looking and seeing people trying to claim they're someone and in actuality, they aren't who they claim to be. That's my own personal example of a fake promise. There's also another thing taking place where someone will outright steal someone else's image (picture) and say that it's them in the photo to attract attention to themselves. They usually keep it on the low, but it's not unusual for them to get caught. Also, it's been known to happen that people of certain sites to post under assumed names to attract attention to their sites by basic trash talking. They go and stir up everyone to spark interest in something they've set up. I have been accused of this, but have never done this. I've come too far to sink that low. I do not just outright lie to everyone, sorry. That is a tactic used by some, but not me. Also, there are those who chat and leave messages at message boards, pretending to be someone of a certain site. Heck, there's someone who pretended to be Ginuwine and got some interviews and promised concerts using this technique of 'empty promises.' Spread false rumors of Ginuwine starting up a label and recruiting talent for it.

Another example of empty lies could be the movie, "Liar, Liar" starring Jim Carrey. That's a prime example of what I'm talking about. His (Jim Carrey's Character) job, as a lawyer, was to basically lie, under oath, in court. He lies to so many people, including his own son, that he doesn't even know himself, when he's lying or not? I do know people like this, so a lot of times that they say something, it's always safe to expect the opposite. They promise to pay you back money they borrowed by a certain time, and then not come through. In fact, that's when a certain thing called, 'avoidance' becomes a factor. They avoid you for awhile, probably hoping you'll forget about the li'l transaction, until it's time for them to repeat the whole process again. Borrow, avoid, and then reappear to borrow again.

Well, like in "Liar, Liar" I wish that everyone who's like this, would not be able to lie for just one day. How would they act then? How would they present themselves? How would they operate without being able to bend the truth? Most likely, that day is the day they'd isolate themselves for 24 hours. They wouldn't be able to call in sick, because they wouldn't be able to lie. It would be fun to see things in that light, if just for one day.

Oh, then there's these people who promise that they're a good public image for one reason or another? Not only that, but they repeat themselves so much, that they actually start to believe their own hype. Once they're exposed, they use all these other empty promises in a vain attempt to cover up what they didn't want others to see. They avoid certain people, and areas, for the fact that they are seen for what they really are and don't want the headache of trying to convince others that their lies are genuine and the truth is empty. Shoot, I don't think I was supposed to write this, but oh wells. This native is ready for all that comes his way. I have nothing to hide, and if someone is ready to challenge me in any way, I'll meet their challenge head on. Better than that, I'll breeze through their little obstacle and continue with my motion of proceeding forward. And, yes, this IS NOT an empty promise here.
