Intro To Dee WriterPosted Up: May 25th 2003, Dee
WriterHere @ nativehiphop.net,
we are striving to bring more things to you, the visitors. Well, it just so
happens, we are now featuring someone who is willing to write columns for this
junt on the regular, or so I think? Anyways, here’s an introduction to Ms.
“Dee Writer” and yeah, she does have a ‘real’ name, but for
now, prefers to use this name. Alright, give it up to this new
columnist.A little about me, ok maybe a lot — but
that’s a whole other story.
I am the new columnist. Or more
accurately--a new columnist.
I can imagine the first thing you think,
”
what the hell qualifies you as a
columnist?”
”
Are you rich or
famous?”
Well, actually neither of those things has happened to
me yet. But, considering that I am only two years over the legal drinking age,
I have some time to work on those things.
I would like to consider
myself a bit witty. But I will not deny that I am sometimes challenged.
Challenged, as in, I have trouble figuring out the crazy people of the world -
but that does not stop me from trying.
So, on with the credentials you
say.
I have a degree - A bachelor’s degree in
psychology.
Who better to provide some social commentary than someone
with a degree that claims to study people?
My minors are/were American
Indian Studies and Anthropology.
There you have it; I am a person who
likes to study people with culture.
And since this is a website
dedicated to Native People, who better than I am, a moderately educated
enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe that resides in the Four
Corners area to shed some light on a few things.
That or maybe just spit
off a few interesting stories.
Anything else you ask?
My
new strategy was to make friends with the teachers. After all - if I
couldn’t fit in with the class and needed to learn-who better to help me
than the people who chant, “my door is always open”.
Why yes
my dear sweet audience, I am a human being and a woman.
That should
about sum it up. As most people know, women know everything.
Ok, maybe
not, but we are still holding some claim to that and are not quite ready to let
it all go.
But, as I mentioned, this is an introduction. Here’s
another run-down for you.
I enjoy reading and love writing. I love
people and want the world to embrace the beauty and diversity that we call
life.
I see the world through two reservation raised, urban living eyes
and would not for one moment change the path I have taken.
So, sit back
and enjoy the ride, column two will be here before you can bat an
eye.
